Mulches are used on top of garden beds as soil should never be exposed to the sun during hot, dry weather. The purpose of mulch is to: 1. Keep the roots of plants cool. 2. Help prevent weed growth 3. Prevent moisture loss in the soil 4. Beautify garden beds Apply mulch around 5-10cm thick remembering to keep mulch about 5cm away from base of plant to reduce the risk of stem rot. |

WOODY AND FEEDING MULCHES. Used for both deeper and shallow rooted plants. Woody mulches can be used on exposed sites as it is less likely to be blown away. Feeding mulches such as Sugar Cane Mulch are great for Vegetable Gardens and shallow rooted plants. Both will eventually break down and feed nutrients to the soil. HARD PERMANENT MULCHES. Simply multiply the length by the width in metres to be covered then multiply by the depth required (between .05 and .1) Expample: Length of garden bed is 5metres, width is 5 metres and depth is 10cm . 5x5x0.1=2.5 cubic metres (You will need to order approx2.5 cubic metres) |
